I have reached a game breaking situation in Kamidori Alchemy Meister

So, im doing the mission where Wilfred has to make it to the church without fighting or getting attacked or else the item he's holding will break. Iv'e been saving constantly through out this just in case i mess up on a turn. I only save under one save file, this is what broke the game for me. I reached a situation where no matter what i do Wilfred cannot make it to the end without the 50 turn limit being reached. For what ever reason this game doesn't let you withdraw from story missions. You see the problem? I'm stuck in this mission forever with no way to beat it and no way to leave. Is there seriously no way to leave the stupid mission?
